Viewers want Shaun Wallace axed despite beating stone skimming champion

It was bittersweet on The Chase for The Dark Destroyer, Shaun Wallace, as despite him chasing down the total to win, viewers have still called for him to be axed.

The 58-year-old quiz braniac may have dispatched the hopefuls on the ITV show, denying them a chance to win £15,000 but it wasn’t enough to please fans of the show.

Before the show had reached the final phase, there was a call for him to be replaced and with 15 required to win, one fan tweeted: "If Shaun doesn’t catch these he has to go."

Well, it seems that winning was not enough to put the knockers back in their box as Shaun’s past performances have possibly caught up with him.

One viewer demanded: "Hey ought to get rid of Shaun from # thechase. He’s bloody useless!!"

While another kept their fingers crossed that Shaun is who they would meet, if they got on the Bradley Walsh fronted quiz.

They tweeted: "Said it before and I’ll say it again, if I ever go on The Chase, I want to take on Shaun. Much weaker than the other four."

One just simply wrote: "Taxi… for Shaun!!!

The Dark Destroyer was pleased with his efforts and claimed it was "just another day in the office" after winning out.

This was met with doubt on Twitter , with one regular viewer pointing out: "If it was ‘Just another day at the office, Bradley’, Shaun would’ve lost again."

The ire given to The Chaser was nothing compared to the mocking of an All-England Stone Skimming Champion.

Well, 28-year-old Luke was a fourth placed competitor but a champion in his own eyes.

He came unstuck on a question about palindromes, which a word, phrase, or sequence that reads the same backwards as forwards.

When he couldn’t work it out, viewers took to Twitter to call him out.

One fan asked: "Where did they dig this div up?"

While another couldn’t believe what they had watched, writing: "He explains what a palindrome was then gets the answer wrong."

A third viewer called out the Stockport based contestant: "It’s not a palindrome…..explains what a palindrome is…. It’s a palindrome…….I think he might have taken one too many skimmed stones to the noggin"

The answer was simple according to another, who simply tweeted: "Just bloody read it backwards"

Though Luke wasn’t the main reason for The Chaser knocking them out of the game, those watching were quick to put him up there as where the fault lay.

*The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV
