The third season of Netflix’s popular romantic drama was released last summer, and fans are still waiting on tenterhooks to see how Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan’s (Martin Henderson) story will continue. Thankfully, it seems the next instalment of Virgin River will be coming sooner rather than later following Alexandra’s recent update on Instagram.
Alexandra took to her Stories this week to let her 815k followers in on the status of Virgin River season four.
Filming for the new episodes began just weeks after the latest outing hit streamers.
The main production has since wrapped up, but the cast still has the confirmed fifth season to get to later this year.
In the meantime, Alexandra’s last block of post-production work has finally been completed, which could hint towards an update on season four’s release date will follow soon.
Alexandra revealed she has now completed all the dubbing for Mel’s scenes in Virgin River season four.
“Just went and finished my last ADR for Virgin River,” she told her fans.
The actress went on to explain more about what the process means for those who may not be in the know.
She continued: “For those of you who don’t know what ADR is, I think it stands for Audio Digital Recording.”
“So, like, say you’re working outside and there’s a lot of traffic, and we can’t really hear what you’re saying, we have to go in afterwards, in post-production, and match our dialogue to the screen in a sound booth.”
As much of Virgin River is filmed on the busy streets of Vancouver, the cast will often have to go back to ensure their dialogue is as clear as possible.
Alexandra went on to show off some of the healthy snacks she brought along to power her through the recording session, including some olives and cauliflower bites.
“So I just finished that for season four and I brought this with me in my purse as a snack in case I got hungry,” she added.

However, the rest of her day was Virgin River-free, so it appears her work on season five hasn’t started just yet.
Alexandra confirmed: “There’s nothing else to talk about right now.
“Hope your day is more exciting than mine. Although I guess finishing the ADR was exciting.”
After her sign-off to the show’s fans, her Virgin River cohort will no doubt be thrilled to hear the post-production work on the series is coming to an end.
The previous three seasons have been released in November, December and July, so there’s no clear pattern to follow for the release of season four.
However, Netflix’s quick turnaround for the next instalments and the fact production on season four is already coming to an end could mean new episodes will be up within the next few months.
Now production is in its final stages, viewers should keep their eyes peeled for an official trailer for the next chapter of Mel and Jack’s story.
Virgin River seasons 1-3 are available to stream on Netflix.
