There’s a mysterious name bandied around on tonight’s EastEnders which might ring a bell to seasoned watchers, but leave other scratching their heads.
That’s right, we’re talking about the hushed chatter around the character of Raymond.
Just who is he?
Who is Raymond in EastEnders?
Raymond is the son of Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), who was born in 2017 after being conceived during a drunken one-night stand between the pair.
When Denise first got pregnant she decided to keep the baby but to keep her pregnancy under wraps.
Secrets don’t last long in Walford, though, and Phil’s wife Sharon (Letitia Dean) found out the truth after overhearing Denise telling Shirley that Phil was the father.
She later decided to give her baby up for adoption which caused a lot of conflict between her and her sister, Kim, who pleaded for her not to.
At the time, Denise lamented over the adoptive parents’ decision to call him ‘Ray’ instead of his full name.
‘How could they call my baby Ray? That’s not what I wanted to call him,’ she despaired.
The baby hasn’t been seen on the soap since.
Executive Producer Jon Sen teased there is a ‘great’ storyline ahead for Denise, and that it will be tied to the arrival of Ellie Nixon (Mica Paris).
He told Metro.co.uk: ‘It really pushes Denise to the front of the show. Those Trueman stories are amazing. Mica forms part of that story with Denise.
‘Anybody who knows anything about her history will probably know where we’re going with that. It’s great when the past comes to haunt you.’
Could baby Raymond make a return? Time will tell.
EastEnders continues Friday September 25 at 8:30pm on BBC One.
