THE X Factor: Celebrity's Jenny Ryan revealed she broke down in tears after being axed from the show and consoled herself with ice cream.
The Chase favourite, 37, appeared on This Morning today after it was revealed she will star in Saturday's first live show following Simon Cowell's sensational U-turn.
She told hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford: "We had the auditions. I’d been told I wasn’t going through. I came home, cried a little bit, ate quite a lot of ice cream, which I shouldn't really do because it’s not good for the throat, dairy.
"And then I got a phone call after what felt like the longest time. It was quite a wait, and then I got a call from Simon inviting me to come back and join in."
Jenny added that she "inferred" from Simon's words that he knew he'd made a mistake.
Her initial axing triggered a huge backlash from fans.
The quizzer – who stunned viewers with her take of Queen's Somebody to Love – was unexpectedly cut from the second audition show on Saturday, but the judges have now changed their minds and given her a place in the lives.
On Saturday night, viewers saw judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger tell Ryan they could not give her a yes for the Overs category.
But after considering the celebrities' performances again, the trio decided Ryan did deserve a coveted spot on the live shows.
Ryan now joins the remaining celebrity acts as they go live for the first time on the ITV show.
The 13 acts – including Ryan and footballer-turned-film star Vinnie Jones – will now hope to win the votes of the public in the coming weeks as they bid to win a record contract.
Ryan said: "I've loved every moment of The X Factor and I'm delighted to be able to get the opportunity to perform live.
"The response from the public has been amazing – what an incredible experience. I'm so pleased it's continuing!"
Mentor Scherzinger said: "Jenny was just brilliant at her audition in LA. That voice of hers is one of a kind, and she's an amazing person to get to know.
"So it was such a tough decision to make. After a lot of discussion we all agreed we had to put her through. The Overs are gonna smash it this year!"
Viewers had vowed to boycott the show over Jenny's surprisingly powerful audition.
The X Factor: Celebrity returns to ITV live at 8.20pm on Saturday.
