A three-year-old boy and his dog were left abandoned in a cold cemetery in Ohio two days before Christmas, authorities said.

Officers responded to Hope Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hinkley on Wednesday and found the little boy identified as Tony alone with his dog, Hinkley police said.

A witness reported seeing a blue car speeding out of the cemetery while a little boy and dog were chasing after the vehicle, cops said.

The child was then taken into custody with child services, and is safe living with his foster family, according to police.

Police say Tony’s father has been “very cooperative.”

WJW-TV reported the boy had been in his mother’s custody at the time he was abandoned. Cops later recovered the dog after it was running around in the cemetery.

An investigation is ongoing.
