Festive Brits hit the streets and brave Storm Deirdre to get the Christmas party season off with a bang

Clubbers pulled on their glad rags and hit the town as they looked forward to December 25.

It isn’t Christmas unless you’ve painted the town red with colleagues you barely like or danced with friends to cheesy Christmas hits – and the festive fun was in full swing in Manchester and Glasgow this weekend.

Despite warning of a "wall of snow" hitting Britain – groups of girls in skimpy sequined dresses and high heels braced the chilly conditions on their way to bars in Glasgow.

Others were spotted huddling together on rain-soaked streets as they waited to join pals in the city’s clubs.

But, of course, there are only so many times you can dance to Slade and eventually dishevelled revellers stumbled home after a Christmas night on the tiles.

Clutching kebabs or slumped on the pavements after a long night – the excitement was just too much for some.
