Even the most talented of sportspeople still make mistakes from time to time — as this world champion gymnast quickly realises.

Morgan Hurd, 17, from Delaware US, posted a video to social media showing her lose grip of a bar and dramatically crash in to the mirrored wall in front of her.

The video starts with the three-time member of the US national women’s artistic gymnast team standing on a thick blue landing mat.

She leaps in to the air and grips the lower of the uneven bars.

With perfect poise she pulls forward to gain momentum before — still holding on to the lower bar — she propels herself around, up, and in to a handstand with her legs straight up in the air.

Allowing her body to gracefully fall back downwards — while still holding the bar — she makes to flip around again but loses grip and instead shoots forwards.

And she nearly breaks the mirror in front of her as she crashes to the ground, she reveals while responding to comments on her Twitter post.
