Indonesian modern art has been gaining acclaim abroad, but the new museum’s administrators hope to show off to a domestic audience.

    Indonesia’s first international modern art museum has opened.

    At a time of rising intolerance and self-censorship, it’s attracting thousands of art-hungry visitors and exposing them to works that are often deemed too controversial.
