Kimberly-Clark recalls some U by Kotex Sleek Tampons

Kimberly-Clark is voluntarily recalling some of their Kotex products after several women complained that tampons were unraveling inside their bodies and they needed medical assistance to extract them.

Retailers in the US and Canada are pulling U by Kotex Sleek Tampons made between Oct. 7, 2016, and Oct. 16, 2018, and distributed between Oct. 17, 2016, and Oct. 23, 2018, off the shelves, after the company announced the recall Tuesday.

No other U by Kotex-branded products are being recalled.

Other consumers also reported vaginal infections, irritation and injury from the product, the company said in a statement.

Consumers experiencing vaginal injury or symptoms like hot flashes, nausea or vomiting after using the product should seek medical attention immediately.

US consumers and medical professionals can report adverse reactions to MedWatch: The FDA Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program online or at 1-800-FDA-0178.

Canadians may report adverse reactions to Health Canada online.

Anyone with questions can contact Kimberly-Clark at 1-888-255-3499 during business hours.
