New York mayor Bill de Blasio lifts city curfew ‘effective immediately’ after day of peaceful protests and few arrests – The Sun

NEW York mayor Bill De Blasio has lifted curfew following Saturday's peaceful anti-racism protests.

De Blasio said on Sunday the measure will go into effect "immediately" throughout New York City after New Yorkers showed "the very best of our city" while demonstrating against police brutality.

"New York City: We are lifting the curfew, effective immediately," the mayor tweeted on.

"Yesterday and last night we saw the very best of our city. Tomorrow we take the first big step to restart. Keep staying safe. Keep looking out for each other."
