Only one member of the Indonesian pop band that was swept out to sea when a tsunami hit it mid-performance over the weekend has survived the disaster, according to new reports.
Wisnu Andi Darmawan, the drummer from the popular local group Seventeen, was found dead Monday — as the group’s bassist Muhammad Awal Purbani, guitarist Herman Sikumbang, manager Oki Wijaya and crew member Rukmana Rustam were laid to rest, according to Channel NewsAsia.
That leaves frontman Riefian Fajarsyah — whose wife was also caught up in the tsunami and remained missing Monday — as the sole surviving member of the quartet after Saturday’s tsunami, which killed at least 373 people in the island nation.
Shocking video showed the band being suddenly swept away when a huge wave hit while they played a concert at a resort on the western tip of Java on Saturday night.
“So long my beloved drummer Andi Seventeen, Allah loves you,” Fajarsyah wrote in a social media post, according to Channel NewsAsia.
“Be at peace my friend. Endless prayers for you, Bani (bassist) and Eman (guitarist) … It’s been an honor and a pride to share a stage with you. We were not just work partners, we were family in life and death.”
