A Palestinian woman opened fire outside an Israeli settlement in the West Bank and was killed by soldiers on Wednesday, according to a report.
The woman used an M-16 rifle to target a group of settlers and troops near Kiryat Arba, the Times of Israel said.
Two soldiers returned fire, “neutralizing her,” and none of the Israelis were injured, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
The incident came amid rising violence in the West Bank and Jerusalem sparked by the deadly combat between Israel and Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip.
On Tuesday, two Israeli soldiers were wounded and three Palestinians were killed during a series of clashes that included a riot by nearly 2,000 protesters on the outskirts of Ramallah, where the Palestinian Authority is headquartered.
Also Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces said it would destroy the family home of a 47-year-old Palestinian man accused in a deadly drive-by shooting in the northern West Bank on May 2, the Times of Israel said.
Three Israelis were shot and one — Yehuda Guetta, 19 — later died of his wounds.
The IDF said the family of alleged shooter Muntasir Shalabi can appeal its demolition plan.
