Al Jazeera speaks to a North Korean refugee who sat alongside South Korea’s president, Moon Jae-in, during the Winter Olympics opening ceremony.
At the Winter Olympics opening ceremony a few special volunteers, handpicked by the South Korean government, sat in the VIP section alongside the President Moon Jae-in.
Two of them were North Korean refugees.
They were brought to the South during the Korean War by American troops, in the largest humanitarian sea convoy in US history.
Al Jazeera’s Natasha Ghoneim spoke to one of them in Seoul.
