Dramatic footage shows the moment a reckless BMW driver led police on a dangerous high-speed chase – before crashing into another car and a wall.

Saif Rehman, 23, was spotted by traffic officers driving a suspected cloned and stolen vehicle in the Sparkhill area of Birmingham on July 31.

He failed to stop for police and continued driving at more than double the speed limit, through red lights and swerving past other cars along residential streets.

At one point, Rehman sped the wrong way around a roundabout and smashed into another car before driving off and eventually hitting a brick wall.

The shocking chase was captured by a police helicopter’s thermal camera as well as dash-cam footage from traffic cops on the ground.

He was jailed for 22 months and banned from driving for two years and 11 months at Birmingham Crown Court last Wednesday August 30.

PC Simon Smith, from West Midlands Police’s Traffic Unit, said: ‘Rehman drove at incredibly dangerous speeds in his failed attempt to escape, all because he shouldn’t have been on the road in the first place.

‘I hope this sentence shows Rehman and others that we will not tolerate dangerous driving on our streets and we will take action.’
