Two police were injured when their car rolled after they lost control while chasing an armed man who evaded arrest in northern Victoria on Monday afternoon. The man remains on the run.<\/p>\n
The officers were at a property near Shepparton for an arrest when a man allegedly approached them armed with a firearm just after midday.<\/p>\n
He fled the scene at Katandra West, near Shepparton, and a short time later, the officers\u2019 car lost control and rolled on Creighton Road about 12.30pm.<\/p>\n
The police car was left partially crushed, with the bonnet smashed in.<\/p>\n
The pair suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for observation.<\/p>\n
After fleeing police, the man drove 15 minutes to a home in Youanmite, where he took off in a different car, according to police. He is still on the run.<\/p>\n
Nine News reported that a neighbour said the man was shirtless and yelling when he faced off with police at the property.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll the police were crouched down with their guns pulled,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey kept saying to him, \u2018Put your weapon down and put your hands behind your head,\u2019 and then he just walked back and he said, \u2018I\u2019m not f—ing going back to jail again.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Officers are guarding the home where the initial incident took place, Nine said. The man allegedly stole the resident\u2019s car when he fled.<\/p>\n
