MOVING into a new home can be both exciting and stressful whether you're renting or buying a property.<\/p>\n

But one expert has provided a helpful list of things you need to do when you move in to make life easier.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Glen Russell shared his tips in a TikTok video online.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThings to do when you're moving into a new home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Most of us will have heard of the first one and it\u2019s changing your locks after you move in.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gen said: \u201cYou don't want any unwanted guests.\u201d<\/p>\n

The next tip is just as important – changing the toilet seats, no one want to sit where someone else's bum has been.<\/p>\n

Glen also said: \u201cChange your address on all your documentation like your driving licence and make sure all of your mail is reposted to your new address.\u201d<\/p>\n

Postal services have a very helpful redirection services so you can have your mail redirected from your old property to your new one while you sort everything out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Glen warns you must register for your council tax.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Glen says: \u201c[This is] basically all the things you will need essentially [in one place], not loads of other stuff otherwise you\u2019ll just have loads of trip hazards.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cMake sure you check where important things are like water valves, circuit breakers, fuse boxes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don't want to be searching around at night time in the pitch black trying to find these things.\u201d<\/p>\n
