<\/p>\nJILL Ireland\u00a0and David McCallum were married for ten years before their split in 1967.<\/p>\n
The actress had a fruitful acting career but a challenging personal life that included burying one of her children and dealing with cancer.<\/p>\n

Jill Ireland was born in London on April 24, 1936.<\/p>\n
She was trained as a ballet dancer and first performed professionally when she was 12. <\/p>\n
She began her acting career in the 1950s and had small roles in Simon and Laura\u00a0(1955) and\u00a0Three Men in a Boat\u00a0(1956).<\/p>\n
In 1957, Ireland married actor David McCallum and moved to Hollywood in 1962.<\/p>\n
Jill got steady work on American television and would co-star with David in five episodes of The Man from U.N.C.L.E in 1964, 1965 and 1967.<\/p>\n David and Jill met while working on the film Hell Drivers (1957).<\/p>\n After a decade of marriage, the couple announced they had split in 1967.<\/p>\n In a statement, McCallum said of their separation: "Jill and I have maintained a form of separation for some time now, due to the fact that I have been in Europe for the past two months.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n "I think it is prudent that I withhold any further comment on this situation until I have had a chance to\u00a0 talk to Jill in person on my return to Los Angeles."<\/p>\n It was then reported that the actress had decided to leave McCallum for his\u00a0Great Escape\u00a0co-star Charles Bronson, whom she had first met in 1963.\u00a0<\/p>\n During a 2017 interview with\u00a0Daily Record, David reflected on this period in his life, explaining: "I never hated him, Charlie was always a good friend. I find that when problems come along, worrying about them and getting anxious and negative is quite unnecessary. <\/p>\n "You can solve them, usually amicably. That's what happened."<\/p>\n Jill and Charles went on to have a daughter Zuleika, and adopted a daughter,\u00a0Katrina.<\/p>\n They remained married until her death in 1990.<\/p>\n During their ten-year marriage, David and Jill became parents to three sons: Paul, Valentine and Jason. <\/p>\n Jason sadly died of a drug overdose in 1989.<\/p>\n In 1990, Jill died of\u00a0breast cancer\u00a0at her home in Malibu, California. <\/p>\n She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1984 and was told by doctors that she was given two to three years to live in 1989. <\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/e6931ea2-7557-40ff-84ce-eac95b107fc1.jpg\")
