When asked for the hardest part of the job, he says: &#8216;Making sure you do not make a mistake that impacts the outcome of the match.. This is the worst thing for us.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>When quizzed on how he copes with the pressure, he adds: &#8216;I try to prepare the same way for every match which is to stay calm and relaxed. During the match I remain very focused and just take each decision I need to make, one at a time! I do not worry about past decisions in the game as it is all about the next decision.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>At the bottom of the page is an illustration of England being interviewed and on what skills are needed to be a referee, he suggests being &#8216;resilient, as lots of people question your ability&#8217; and that &#8216;communication is a key skill&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The timing is awkward given how the PGMOL released the audio of his mistake in which he and his video assistant Dan Cook &#8211; in a serious lapse of concentration and communication &#8211; failed to allow Luis Diaz&#8217;s opener to stand for Liverpool at Tottenham on Saturday. England also discusses how he enjoys life as an official, saying: &#8216;I like the fact that every game is different and you are working under high pressure, making decisions in a matter of seconds.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/07\/76193023-12596411-image-m-3_1696487794919.jpg\" height=\"486\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Darren England, who is the video assistant referee responsible for Saturday&#8217;s controversial VAR blunder, has given advice on what makes a good official in a new book released today<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/07\/76193019-12596411-image-a-1_1696487724217.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>In the new book &#8216;The Football School Encyclopaedia&#8217;, which was released on Thursday morning, England gives advice in a Q&amp;A interview (right) called: &#8216;Having a word with the ref&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/07\/76092721-12596411-image-a-4_1696488044364.jpg\" height=\"360\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Luiz Diaz thought he had put Liverpool ahead against Tottenham &#8211;
