A MAN has been charged over an alleged plot to kidnap and murder Holly Willoughby.<\/p>\n

Gavin Plumb, 36, is accused of soliciting to commit murder and incitement to commit kidnap.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

He will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court today after he was held by officers on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Superintendent Tim Tubbs said \u201cThis was an extremely fast paced investigation, with many of our officers and national partners working overnight to secure these charges.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe safeguarding of any victim is paramount and we will continue to prioritise this as the investigation proceeds.\u201d<\/p>\n

Holly, 42, was forced to pull out of hosting This Morning yesterday and was replaced by Alison Hammond.<\/p>\n

She was under police guard at the home she shares with her husband Dan Baldwin after the alleged plot was smashed.<\/p>\n

Police alerted This Morning bosses to the alleged plot early on Thursday, with Holly informed shortly before she was due on air.<\/p>\n

She was left \u201cshocked and distraught\u201d and it was decided she should\u00a0pull out of the show.<\/p>\n

Alison Hammond\u00a0was called in as a last- minute replacement alongside\u00a0Josie Gibson, who co-hosted Wednesday\u2019s show with Holly.<\/p>\n

Viewers were left baffled as Josie skirted round her absence, saying: \u201cLook who\u2019s joined me.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s only the one and only Alison Hammond.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alison then joked about being \u201cjealous\u201d of her and Holly.<\/p>\n

One fan posted: \u201cNo Holly today?! Devastated.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another added: \u201cNot even a mention of why she\u2019s not on today?!\u201d<\/p>\n

Holly had been due to celebrate her TV producer husband Daniel Baldwin\u2019s 49th birthday with their children, Harry, 14, Belle, 12, and eight-year-old Chester.<\/p>\n

The incident comes after a turbulent year for the star, who has presented This Morning since 2009.<\/p>\n

Last September, she and then co-host Phillip Schofield were accused of skipping the queue to pay their respects to the late Queen.<\/p>\n

She later issued a statement explaining she had been there as an accredited broadcaster for a filmed segment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Holly added: \u201cPlease know that we would never jump a queue.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

This May, Phillip Schofield, 61,\u00a0resigned\u00a0after he\u00a0admitted an affair\u00a0with a\u00a0younger colleague.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Schofield also revealed\u00a0he had lied about it\u00a0when confronted by Holly.<\/p>\n

She later told viewers she had felt \u201cshaken and let down\u201d.<\/p>\n

ITV launched a review into This Morning amid claims of a \u201ctoxic culture\u201d, leading to a backlash from viewers. <\/p>\n
