MORE Wilko stores will reopen as Poundland shops within days.<\/p>\n
Wilko's last remaining sites shut for good and left the high street forever on Sunday, October 8.<\/p>\n

The firm\u00a0fell into administration on August 10 and since then a flurry of rivals bought a handful of stores.<\/p>\n
Among those was discount chain\u00a0Poundland,\u00a0which purchased 71 stores and the first are opening in just a few days.<\/p>\n
It has already opened 20 stores over the last two weeks.<\/p>\n
But the reopenings have been pretty basic to begin as all stores will then receive a full makeover in 2024.<\/p>\n
The shops will mostly include Poundland items but also a selection of\u00a0Wilko\u00a0products that weren't sold during the closing-down sales.<\/p>\n But now, Poundland is opening another nine of these stores on Saturday, October 14, in:<\/p>\n It will come just a week after the brand reopened 10 Wilko sites under its brand on the morning of Saturday, October 7,in:<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n It come days after\u00a0Poundland reopened old Wilko sites on Saturday, September 30\u00a0in:<\/p>\n Darren Kay, Poundland's retail director, said: "We're moving at pace because we know how important opening these stores are to local communities.<\/p>\n "While stores will get more extensive refits in next year, we\u2019re proud that another nine former Wilko stores will begin their Poundland journeys this coming weekend."<\/p>\n Poundland aims to open\u00a0all the former Wilko stores\u00a0it bought by the end of 2023.<\/p>\n The Range\u00a0recently snapped up the Wilko brand, including the name and website, in a \u00a35million deal with administrators.<\/p>\n A message\u00a0has since appeared on the Wilko website\u00a0telling customers home delivery is "returning soon".<\/p>\n An exact date for when the service is returning is yet to be revealed.<\/p>\n B&M also\u00a0purchased 51 stores\u00a0which means more Wilko shops will be reopening in the near\u00a0future.<\/p>\n It's not yet confirmed which branches, but previously said it'll give an update in November.<\/p>\n Wilko stores have been closing across the month of September.<\/p>\n On September 12,\u00a024 Wilko stores closed for good\u00a0and on Thursday September 14,\u00a0another 28 stores\u00a0shut up shop.<\/p>\n Both of Wilko\u2019s warehouses also closed on September 15.<\/p>\n A further 38 stores pulled down their shutters one last time on September 17 and 38 more closed on September 19.<\/p>\n On September 22, nearly 50 branches closed their doors and 37 stores closed their doors for the final time on Tuesday, September 26.<\/p>\n On Sunday, October 8, 2023 the last remaining sites shut for good to completely wipe the face of\u00a0Wilko\u00a0from our high streets.<\/p>\n It comes amid a turbulent time for retailers as they close stores across the UK.<\/p>\n Consumers are increasingly turning to online shopping and away from physical branches.<\/p>\n High\u00a0inflation\u00a0since last year has meant shoppers'\u00a0money\u00a0isn't going as far either as they hold off on leisure purchases.<\/p>\n That, combined with high\u00a0energy\u00a0and wage costs, has seen a number of retailers closing stores, including\u00a0Boots\u00a0and\u00a0Iceland.<\/p>\n rend made worse by the\u00a0coronavirus\u00a0pandemic.<\/p>\n<\/picture>BILL HELP <\/span><\/p>\n
