Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has revealed she is being more 'cautious' about her own personal safety since the alleged Holly Willoughby's 'kidnap plot'.

Holly Willoughby is currently on 'indefinite leave' from This Morning following an alleged plot to 'kidnap and murder' her.

Gavin Plumb appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Friday, 6 October, charged with soliciting to commit murder and incitement to commit kidnap of the star.

Now head judge Shirley, 63, who recently returned for the 21st series of Strictly, has admitted that the ordeal has made her feel 'nervous.'

The ballroom pro told the Daily Star: “The news about Holly has made me a little bit nervous.

"Let’s just say, I travel everywhere with caution. I’m not free as a bird like I used to be. I’m always a little bit cautious about where I’m going, especially if I’m out on my own."

The publication also reports how Shirley can relate to Holly, as her family was at the centre of a kidnap plot.

Son Mark, 37, was reportedly targeted when he was paired with gymnast Shawn Johnson, 31, on the US version of Strictly.

She added: "I would be wrong to say, ‘I don’t worry about it’; of course you do. These are the times that we live in, and I think it’s very sad."

It comes as Shirley opened up about receiving death threats that made her scared to leave her own home.

Appearing on Olivia Attwood vs The Trolls, she showed Olivia the disgusting messages she receives, saying: "These are some of the very sexual messages that I get constantly from various different people."

She continued: "Some of them are so nerve-racking that I can't show you," adding that she now often feels unsafe in public.

"I am not just talking about your phone. I am talking about being in public. You worry about those same strange people that write these kinds of messages.

"Are they lurking in dark corners? Are they hiding behind walls when you go somewhere?"

Daytime TV host Holly Willoughby is now understood to be receiving round-the-clock security and support from ITV following the alleged kidnap plot.

The Mirror reports how ITV has given her permission to remain off work for as long as she needs.

On Friday, a spokesperson for ITV said: "This news has come as a huge shock to everyone at This Morning and ITV. We are providing all the support we can to Holly and her family at this incredibly distressing time."
