A large enclave of tents has sprung up in a makeshift camp on London’s Park Lane directly opposite a Hilton hotel which charges as much as \u00a31,000 per night for a room.<\/p>\n
Photos appear to show a group of people living on a green area close to some of the UK’s most luxurious venues, using tents, metal barriers and wooden pallets to protect themselves from the muddy ground.<\/p>\n
On Friday some of those living in the area were pictured getting up from their slumber and preparing for the day, including multiple women with pushchairs and young men.<\/p>\n
Around a dozen tents have appeared opposite the hotel, in an echo of previous campsites which have angered locals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The site is opposite the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, which costs as much as \u00a31,000 per night<\/p>\n

Most are covered in black tarpaulins in an attempt to protect those inside from the elements<\/p>\n

It is unclear exactly how long the current group of people have been living on Park Lane, or how many of them there are<\/p>\n
It is not the first time groups have set up camp in the exclusive Mayfair area: in June,\u00a0traveller Aurel Roman and his partner Larisa erected a giant tent on a grass verge in the centre of a Mayfair dual carriageway.<\/p>\n
And in 2021, a camp on Park Lane that\u00a0was linked to a rise in crime and anti-social behaviour was torn down – seven years after it was erected.<\/p>\n
It is unclear exactly how long the current group of people have been living on Park Lane, or how many of them there are.<\/p>\n
It appears they have set up various camping tables to use and store belongings on, as well as using heavy black tarpaulins to protect their tents from the elements.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The council for the City of Westminster has been contacted for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
