MOST parents enjoy a well-deserved break whilst their tots go for a nap – but not Maisie Rees.<\/p>\n

Instead of watching her favourite programme on telly or catching up on what's new on social media, the savvy 35-year-old have her kitchen a makeover.<\/p>\n

The thrifty mum, who spoke to\u00a0Tap Warehouse\u00a0about the project, said there are always ways to revamp your property on a budget – and the DIY fanatic had managed to stick to just \u00a3150.<\/p>\n

\u201cI began by creating some mock ups on my Mac, messing around with what to paint on the backsplash and what colour the cupboards would be," she said. <\/p>\n

\u201cOnce I was happy, I began painting the walls, ceiling and existing tiled backsplash. <\/p>\n

''For the backsplash, I primed it with white paint and then handpainted the black graphic shapes that I created by using cardboard templates – this probably took the longest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on the challenges she faced with the transformation, Maisie reveals:\u00a0\u201cBecause I was doing everything myself, I didn\u2019t want to make any mistakes, so I didn\u2019t start doing anything until I was confident with how I wanted it to look." <\/p>\n

Deciding the cupboards also needed a little TLC, Maisie opted to wrap them in vinyl, an affordable alternative to buying a new set.<\/p>\n

The final part of the transformation, meanwhile, included changing up the cupboard handles and spray painting the oven.<\/p>\n

Maisie has also shared the step-by-step process on her\u00a0home\u00a0Instagram account, where she has won close to 40k followers.<\/p>\n

She added:\u00a0\u201cOur budget didn\u2019t allow for us ripping out the kitchen and starting again, so I thought I\u2019d make do with what we have instead and give our home a bit of a makeover.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI usually work with a small budget, so I regularly make over IKEA furniture to match my colour scheme or upcycle charity shop finds if I want something that looks unique.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mum, from Birmingham,\u00a0set up her account to share renter-friendly decorating hacks that won't break the bank. <\/p>\n

Having studied graphic design as a student and now being an interior stylist, Maisie said she wanted her home to reflect her creativity and eye for design.<\/p>\n

For those wanting to keep the costs to a minimal, the 35-year-old whizz advised to \u201cprep\u201d to save yourself from any potential mishaps and giving yourself \u201cdouble the work\u201d down the line. <\/p>\n

She said: \u201cIf it\u2019s wooden furniture, lightly sand, if it\u2019s IKEA furniture, use the correct primer, if it\u2019s painting tiles, use the right type of paint. You\u2019ll thank yourself later!\u201d<\/p>\n

And fans have been loving the graphic and monochrome makeover, with one fan on Instagram writing: ''Incredible!! What a transformation.''<\/p>\n
