SOME footballer's have kids that want to follow in their footsteps and grace the pitch the same way they did. <\/p>\n

But others pursue their own unique ventures and that's exactly what Thomas Martyn, son of England icon Nigel Martyn has gone on to do.<\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

He could have tried to don his father's goalkeeper gloves and have football fans screaming at him for 90 minutes every weekend. <\/p>\n

But instead he has chosen the unusual path of paving his way as a Opera singer. <\/p>\n

Thomas graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama back in 2019 and has been working towards his operatic goal ever since.<\/p>\n

He recently performed at a charity event with dad Nigel sharing an incredible video of his talents on X (formerly Twitter).<\/p>\n

Nigel's career in football may not has been quite as artistic as the path being followed by his son, but it was certainly still impressive. <\/p>\n

The 57-year-old spent most of his career with Leeds United, but was also loved during his time with Crystal Palace and Everton too. <\/p>\n

The shot-stopper has the sixth most clean sheets in Premier League history. <\/p>\n

He kept the ball of his net in an astounding 137 of his 372 top flight appearances between 1992 and 2006.<\/p>\n

And his brick-wall-like displays earned him a spot amongst the Three Lions getting 23 caps for the England national team. <\/p>\n

Despite only making one appearance in a major tournament for England, Nigel was part of the squad for two European Championships and two World Cups.<\/p>\n

However he was never able to nail down the number one shirt for England due to the competing talents of David Seaman. <\/p>\n

In an interview with The Athletic in 2019, he explained how it doesn't bother him as much as people may think because Seaman was so immensely talented.<\/p>\n

He said: "If I look back at England goalkeepers you\u2019ve probably got Gordon Banks in his era, Peter Shilton, and Dave Seaman all as great keepers,<\/p>\n

\u201cThe rest of us have been good, but they\u2019re our true greats. To get stuck behind a great keeper makes you live with it a bit easier."<\/p>\n
