{"id":145543,"date":"2023-11-25T15:49:13","date_gmt":"2023-11-25T15:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebritywshow.com\/?p=145543"},"modified":"2023-11-25T15:49:13","modified_gmt":"2023-11-25T15:49:13","slug":"toddler-reunited-with-toy-monkey-after-losing-it-onboard-a-train","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebritywshow.com\/world-news\/toddler-reunited-with-toy-monkey-after-losing-it-onboard-a-train\/","title":{"rendered":"Toddler reunited with toy monkey after losing it onboard a train"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Toddler is reunited with his lost toy monkey that took a 600-mile train journey on its own&#8230; before being returned by rail staff with a new hand-knitted jumper<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Kayna Tay and her three-year-old son misplaced the toy while travelling to Bristol<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A toddler has been reunited with his lost toy monkey after it embarked on a 600-mile railway adventure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Network Rail said Kayna Tay, 43, and her three-year-old son misplaced the item &#8211; which he has had since birth &#8211; while changing carriages on the first leg of a journey from Oakham, East Midlands, to Bristol Temple Meads on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They realised what had happened as they arrived at Birmingham New Street to change trains.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ms Tay and her distraught son went to the station&#8217;s reception to report the lost monkey.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Customer service assistants Leon Allen and Vinny Murphy arranged for a search to take place, and the beloved item was found after the train terminated at Edinburgh Waverley.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/23\/22\/78177161-12785573-image-m-86_1700778268873.jpg\" height=\"970\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Kayna Tay, 43, and her three-year-old son left behind a toy monkey while changing carriages on a journey to Bristol<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/23\/22\/78177165-12785573-image-a-87_1700778284902.jpg\" height=\"845\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Network Rail staff returned the lost item with a hand-knitted Christmas jumper with the company&#8217;s logo<\/p>\n<p>The cuddly ape travelled back down to Birmingham New Street that same day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While being stored overnight at the station&#8217;s reception, staff adorned it in a tiny, hand-knitted jumper previously made as a Christmas decoration, featuring a sparkly double arrow rail logo.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The toy was put on a train to Bristol Temple Meads on Tuesday, from where Ms Tay collected it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Network Rail said it clocked up an extra 619 miles on top of its planned trip, with journeys on CrossCountry, Avanti West Coast and Great Western Railway services.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ms Tay said: &#8216;My little boy was inconsolable when we realised we&#8217;d lost Monkey on the train and we arrived at Birmingham New Street.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;But the treatment we received from the customer services team there, who mounted a miracle mission to find the monkey again, was above and beyond what I could have expected.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I can&#8217;t thank everyone involved enough, across all the train companies, for not only making my little boy smile again, but he loves Monkey&#8217;s new jumper and is full of questions, fascinated by the adventure he&#8217;s been on.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/23\/22\/78177159-12785573-The_cuddly_ape_clocked_up_an_extra_619_miles_on_top_of_its_plann-a-1_1700779267975.jpg\" height=\"848\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The cuddly ape clocked up an extra 619 miles on top of its planned journey after it was discovered in Edinburgh and sent back down South via several different operators<\/p>\n<p>Mr Murphy said: &#8216;It was heart-breaking to see Kayna&#8217;s little lad so upset that he&#8217;d left his best friend on the train, so it was the least we could do to get straight on the phone to try and track him down.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We couldn&#8217;t have done this without the efforts of all the train crews.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Spotting a tiny Christmas jumper in our station reception for him to wear was then the icing on the cake.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We&#8217;re so pleased we could have helped.
