<\/p>\nA FEMALE prison officer reportedly had secret phone sex with an inmate who called her his "Mrs" – and she even met his mum, a court heard.<\/p>\n
Ruth Shmylo, 26, is accused of having a five-month "inappropriate relationship" with the criminal who was behind bars at a category B prison, in Wales, where she worked.<\/p>\n

The warden is said to have had "daily" phone sex with the prisoner after he passed his number over on a slip of paper.<\/p>\n
Instead of reporting that the thug had a secret phone in his cell, Shmylo instead chose to call him and start up a relationship, it is alleged.<\/p>\n
Prosecutor Matthew Cobbe said the pair started to have "teenage style chats" and the inmate text Shmylo on her birthday calling her "princess girl".<\/p>\n
Mr Cobbe said: "The inappropriate relationship is demonstrated by recordings of calls by the inmate to Miss Shmylo after he had moved from Parc Prison to HMP Manchester.<\/p>\n
"The recordings between him and Miss Shmylo relate to a time when she was no longer employed at Parc Prison. <\/p>\n "Nevertheless the tone of those conversations relate to a fair and sure inference that she had been in an inappropriate relationship with him while he was at Parc Prison."<\/p>\n Mr Cobbe said Shmylo made "several admissions" to police after being arrested over the phone calls.<\/p>\n One of her alleged admissions was that she had phone sex with the inmate.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Mr Cobbe said: "She conceded during the course of her interview that she had had phone sex with the inmate.<\/p>\n "She explained this was principally the inmate saying things to her, noting that 'I was listening for the best part of it'.<\/p>\n "That means she was actively engaging in phone sex with the inmate – or some of it."<\/p>\n Mr Cobbe added that the secret relationship started when they were at Parc Prison.<\/p>\n But it was only exposed after the inmate was moved to HMP Manchester and their calls were recorded.<\/p>\n Mr Cobbe added: "She explained that the inmate slid a number on a piece of paper over to her. <\/p>\n "She was explaining how she had his number to call and said she felt pressured to call him.<\/p>\n "Having had that number she failed to report the fact he had given her his number, she failed to report that she felt pressure to make a call, she failed to report that she did call that number, or that he did have a mobile phone to call.<\/p>\n "She said that once she had taken that number from the inmate she felt trapped. It's the prosecution case that in truth she had a number of options and choices she could have made.<\/p>\n "She could and should have declined to take the number, she could and should have reported the incident to staff at the prison, she could and should have reported the fact he appeared to have a mobile phone, and she could and should have chosen not to call his number.<\/p>\n "Instead she chose to call his number."<\/p>\n Shmylo, now a former custody officer, said the inmate would contact her "pretty much every single day".<\/p>\n She said the prisoner even threatened to harm another inmate if she stopped taking his calls.<\/p>\n Shmylo told cops that to protect the other inmate, she kept him locked in his cell all day and away from her secret lover, Cardiff Crown Court heard.<\/p>\n Mr Cobbe said: "She went on to explain in her interview that the inmate forced her to meet with his mother.<\/p>\n "During the course of her meeting with his mother, his mother told her all about him, the inmate.<\/p>\n "He told Miss Shmylo that he wanted her to know what he was really like – and who better to tell her than his mother.<\/p>\n "When she told him that she didn't want to go to meet his mother he told her that she better go because his mother had made an effort – including doing her nails."<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/newspress-collage-k7fkg8oyf-1702334936933.jpg\")
