Holly Willoughby quits ITV’s This Morning after 14 years
Holly Willoughby shared a sweet snap with her husband just hours before what ITV fans did not realise would be her final This Morning appearance.
The star posted the loved-up picture with her TV producer husband Dan Baldwin in view of her 8.4 million Instagram followers seven days ago – shortly before her family was plunged into a terrible ordeal.
The cute photo showed Holly kissing Dan on the cheek as they enjoyed a boozy day out at Lucca Summer Festival in Italy.
“Happy birthday to my Love,” she captioned the post with a red love heart emoji in celebration of Dan’s special day.
Holly and Dan have been married since 2007 and share three children.
It has since been revealed that soon after the picture was taken, police rumbled an alleged plot to have the star kidnapped and killed.
Holly was said to be taking time off from This Morning following the distressing time for her family, but today she has confirmed that she will be stepping down from the show altogether.
In a statement posted to her social media, she said: “I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning.
“To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much.
“This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together.
“Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.
“Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day.

“Richard and Judy said ‘We only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers’.
“It’s been an honour to just be part of it’s story and I know this story has many chapters left to go.
“Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family.
“I will miss you all so much. Holly,” she signed off.
Holly’s This Morning co-star Josie Gibson has been holding the fort in her absence, but it has not yet been confirmed who will take over the role on a permanent basis.
