Shannon Beador is finally willing to admit she has an alcohol problem.
According to friends of the Real Housewives of Orange County star via DailyMail.com on Tuesday, the reality veteran is planning to go to rehab after getting arrested for a DUI and a hit-and-run served as an important “wake-up call.” This after YEARS of ignoring her friends’ pleas for her to seek professional help for her “problems,” too! An insider said:
“Shannon plans to enter rehab after her DUI arrest was a huge ‘wake-up call.’”
Good!
They added:
“Shannon has spent the past several years running from her problems and she does not realize who she has turned into. Her cast mates and her friends have told her that she needs to get help, and this was before the DUI.”
Even her former RHOC co-star Kelly Dodd hopes she’ll “learn from” this incident and become a “better” and “stronger person” moving forward, the outlet reported.
At this time, though, Shannon has “not fully decided on if she will do in-patient treatment or out-patient, as she has a family to care for, a dog who needs her and her work projects,” per the source. While it’s always hard to step back from responsibilities, putting herself first right now will truly be the best thing for everyone. So, we hope she’ll really commit to rehab!
Regardless, Shannon’s lawyer Michael Fell revealed she is ready to pay the price of her actions:
“Shannon is extremely apologetic and remorseful. We will be awaiting the official information on this case as it becomes available, and Shannon is prepared to accept full responsibility for her actions.”
Interestingly, this controversy comes after Shannon found herself in some drama on season 17 of the Bravo show for discussing Gina Kirschenheiter‘s 2019 DUI, a show source said:
“Shannon trashed Gina for her DUI on the show and her words are coming back to bite her in the ass now. Gina is taking the high road and is not going to do the same thing to Shannon that she did to her. Her silence speaks volumes about how far she’s come since her own DUI.”
As we’ve covered, the 59-year-old was arrested for crashing into a Newport Beach house and speeding off while under the influence. TMZ even released footage of the hit-and-run. And now, we know what she was doing before the accident. And it seems to suggest she was in NO position to be getting behind the wheel!
According to TMZ on Tuesday, Shannon was having a fun night out on Saturday with her business partner Steve Muller at the Newport Beach hotspot A Restaurant. The place is just about a half mile from the site of her crash. Witnesses told the outlet she appeared tipsy at the bar the whole time (though it’s unclear what she was drinking), and was reportedly acting loud, boisterous, and flailing her arms in the air. A fan even took a picture with her during the night, which you can see HERE.
Even though she was out with a friend, it doesn’t appear as if she was in the best spirits. Apparently, she was overheard smack-talking her former co-star Alexis Bellino — who was also at the venue! Alexis’ ex-husband Jim filed a million-dollar defamation lawsuit against Shannon and Tamra Judge back in 2018 for comments they said about his business on a podcast, and it would seem Shannon’s still salty about it. Alexis spilled the tea:
“When my girlfriends and I arrived for a fun night out together, it was soon brought to my attention that Shannon was also at the same restaurant. Shannon and I did not interact that night, but it greatly saddens me to learn that she may harbor negative feelings or resentment toward me, as I was not involved in Jim Bellino’s lawsuit against Shannon. From one single mother to another, I wish Shannon nothing but the best as I know she is facing trying times ahead.”

And just hours after all this, the Bravolebrity’s car went careening into a home. She’s so lucky this wasn’t a worse accident.
