Halloween is undoubtably the spookiest time of the year.

Often you'll hear spine-tingling stories about haunted buildings where ghosts crop up occasionally. Now if you're wondering what it's like working in a creepy house, one adult performer revealed all.

Kendra James is an award-winning actress in her kinky line of work and a content creator. She's dabbled with mainstream porn and fetishes for over 20 years.

But while she's evolved in the ever-changing industry, Kendra also explored the music industry where she toured with bands such as Ozzy, Slipknot and Pantera.

Now speaking exclusively with Daily Star, the adult performer spilled the beans on the time she worked in the House of Shock, famously known as one of America's most haunted houses.

Located in New Orleans, the spooky spot was a warehouse space built on top of an old plantation, which at the time was part owned by Pantera's lead singer Phil Anselmo.

Kendra was working as a stage performer with her partner Reverend B Dangerous when Phil invited the duo to come down and perform at the haunted house.

She said: "This began our annual involvement from 2000-2017 when the house closed its doors. Over the years it grew and at one point there were three stages showcasing various performances, hook suspension shows and bands.

"I had already been a part of the fetish, kink and BDSM industry since 1999 and my involvement with House of Shock helped shape my interest in cosplay and horror content.

"It also allowed me to shoot on some really awesome sets and take advantage of the haunted house access during the times it wasn't running."

Kendra recalled how the haunted house left quite the impression on her, something she continues to use as inspiration when writing scripts and filming content.

According to content creator, the House of Shock was satanic, sensory overloaded and staffed by extreme haunted house enthusiasts.

She detailed: "Outside were stages where various bands and freak shows performed, including myself. Things would get so intense we'd have people pass out, pee themselves or run screaming through the nearest exit.

"I definitely had some spooky experiences at HOS, usually when the house wasn't running and all of the lights were turned off."

She recalled a time she was shooting where all of a sudden she felt a hand brush her shoulder. The beauty added: "Of course I thought it was someone who worked there messing with me and when I spun around, no one was there.

"From the other side I heard footsteps and again thought maybe it was the photographer coming back. Nothing. At this point I freaked out and tried to remember where the nearest cast door was so I could get out into the open."

And the House of Shock certainly lived up to its name as between the sets, costumes and cast, Kendra felt as though it was "very spooky".

"I'd see grown men crying and clinging to their girlfriends or women running as fast as they could while peeing themselves," she revealed.

Kendra instantly worked at the establishment as a stage performer in a freak show, she did all kinds of sets which involved swallowing swords and dancing on broken class.

And when she wasn't on stage, the award-winning actress would hide in one of the many cubby holes to reach out to "scare" people as they walked through.
