A medical aesthetic practitioner has revealed five things he would never do as a cosmetic doctor – as a warning to people before they book their beauty treatments.
Dr Richard Devine is a London-based aesthetics doctor who frequently shares tips and tricks on TikTok.
In a recent video, he advised clients against a range of popular beauty enhancements, including Russian lip fillers and sunbeds.
The video has since racked up over 1.6 million views, and many have taken to the comment section to share their thoughts on Dr Devine’s advice.

First, Dr Devine warned viewers against thread lifts, a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses threads under the skin to create a more lifted appearance.
While the temporary procedure has proven popular as a much less invasive alternative to a facelift, Dr Devine cautioned others against thread lifts because ‘they’re painful, they’re expensive, and they don’t last.’
Next, the doctor moved on to Russian lips, which involved injecting filler from the inside of the lip outwards to create a lifted look, rather than the plumper appearance you get from regular filler.
‘This is an absolute no-go, unless of course, you want to look like a duck,’ Dr Devine said.
The third warning Dr Devine issued was against having cosmetic treatments by a beautician or a non-medical professional.
He said: ‘Non-medics don’t have any proper medical training. If something goes wrong, they’re not going to be able to adequately manage the complication.
‘They’re far more likely to disappear if anything goes wrong.’
‘I’d never use Juvederm filler,’ was his fourth warning.

Juvederm is a type of dermal filler used to add volume in specific areas on the face, including cheeks and lips.
He said: ‘In my experience, the filler gradually swells with time, so the initial result can become distorted.’
Lastly, Dr Devine issued a stark warning against using sunbeds.
‘I would never use a sunbed. Sunbeds destroy your collagen with time, making your skin look wrinkly,’ he said.
‘They are also a huge risk factor for cancer. Don’t do it.’
