Katya recalls unplanned moment during routine on Strictly
Actor Nigel Harman and his dance partner Katya Jones revealed part of their routine on Saturday night’s Strictly Come Dancing was a spur-of-the-moment addition.
The couple revealed they had got very into the dance on an emotional level, and speaking to Fleur East on spin-off show It Takes Two, Katya explained they ended the performance with an unplanned conclusion.
It came as host Fleur asked the professional about how she had bowed to Nigel following the routine.
“Katya, you actually bowed to Nigel at the end of the performance – how pleased were you?”
“Well, I always have that slight nervousness inside me which I try not to share with you,” Katya explained.

“But this time what happened is we started to dance… I could feel we were really in it.
“You know, it was well-rehearsed, we’ve done it many times, and I didn’t want to attack it immediately too much but as the dance went on I could feel him being really controlled, really present.
“I allowed myself to let it build and build by then end I couldn’t even stand up on my feet!
“There was so much emotion and release – it’s something you don’t get to experience much with a celebrity partner, you do with a professional every now and then.”

As a moment towards the end of Katya and Nigel’s routine was shown on screen, the professional can be seen taking a few big strides backwards as Nigel stared on.
“Well, I wasn’t supposed to be walking – you see that push back?” Katya pointed out.
“I wasn’t supposed to be walking back, but I gave it so much,” she continued.
She added: “I even actually screamed out loud a bit, that release of emotion.
“It just… the power kept pushing me backwards.
“And yeah, this is why I gave him a little bow because I didn’t expect it! He deserved it.”
