Coronation Street star engaged to long-term boyfriend as she shows off stunning ring

Coronation Street actress Sacha Parkinson is engaged to her long-term boyfriend, she has announced.

The actress, who played Sian Powers in the ITV soap, took to Instagram on Friday, 13 October, to share the news, alongside a picture of her stunning engagement ring.

The 31 year old captioned the post: “I knew you were likely to take a wife! SCREAMING."

It looked like she was proposed to on a beautiful yacht, as other pictures showed her hugging her new fiancé, with a sunset in the background. The pair then looked close as Sascha held her hand up to the camera to reveal the gorgeous ring.

Celebrities were quick to congratulate the star. Corrie actress Michelle Keegan, who played Tina McIntyre in the soap, commented: "Awwwww congratulations my darling! So happy for you!" while Ellie Leach, who played Faye Windass and is currently starring in Strictly Come Dancing, said: "OMG CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!".

Ryan Thomas, better known as Weatherfield's Jason Grimwshaw, and who recently announced he'd be appearing in the next series of Dancing On Ice simply added: "Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww."

Fans also jumped on the comments, with one saying: "He’s a very lucky man, make sure he knows that," and another adding, "AAAAGHHHH! my heart just burst all over againnnn."

Sacha first appeared in Coronation Street back in 2009, playing a friend of Sophie Webster, played by actress Brooke Vincent.

They swiftly went on to become the soap's first lesbian couple, but Sascha left after filming her last scenes in November 2011.

Back in 2018, Sacha bravely re-lived the moment she realised she had crippling endometriosis in a terrifying moment where she was left crawling on the floor in pain, fearing no one would find her.

The actress was only diagnosed with the painful disorder a couple of years earlier, following years of bad period pain and a continual ache in her stomach.

The disorder sees tissue that behaves like the lining of the womb found in other parts of the body including the ovaries and fallopian tubes.

Yet it was only during a trip to Los Angeles, where she sweated it out in the gym, when the condition took hold.

Talking on TV show Lorraine, Sacha explained: "The pain was something I had since I was in school but I was unaware it was different to anyone else. As I was getting older, it got worse."

She continued: "I try to avoid exercise like the plague but in LA everyone is super fit so I had jet lag and thought 'I'm going to exercise'.

"I started doing burpees and after the third one I dropped to the floor.

"I never had anything like that happen in my life and I crawled to one side of the bathroom because it was a tiled floor and it was cool.

"The pain was so bad I couldn't keep still and I thought 'noone knows I'm here. I don't know what this is."

Shortly after her harrowing ordeal, doctors discovered Sacha's condition and told her she had cysts which had twisted, causing the excruciating pain.
