Strictly: Nigel Harman teases ‘tearjerking’ dance routine
Strictly Come Dancing hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman gave an update on Nigel Harman following his absence during Musicals’ Week. The actor had to withdraw from Strictly after sustaining an injury, the BBC confirmed earlier today.
Nigel, 50, was due to perform the Charleston to Step In Time from Disney’s Mary Poppins with his partner Katya Jones. His exit leaves only four celebrities in the competition – actress Ellie Leach, tennis ace Annabel Croft, West End star Layton Williams and EastEnders’ actor Bobby Brazier.
As tonight’s show got underway, the host Claudia Winkleman explained: “As you can see we only have four couples, unfortunately, Nigel has sustained an injury which means he is unable to perform in tonight’s show. He’s had to withdraw from the competition.
Co-host Tess Daly added: “We are as devasted as he is but Nigel and Katya will be chatting to us later on in the show. “That means there will be no public vote tonight and no elimination,” Claudia explained.

Tess added: “The judges will still be scoring and those scores will be carried over. “
A BBC spokesperson added: “Unfortunately Nigel has sustained an injury which means he is unable to perform in tonight’s show and has had to withdraw from Strictly.”
Former Strictly Come Dancing stars have taken to Instagram to offer their support to Nigel as he recovers from his injuries.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy tweeted: “Terrible news. Poor Nigel and Katya – and in Musicals’ Week as well which he was so excited about. So sad for a lovely man and an amazing dancer.”
Nigel’s fans have also reacted to the news on social media, which comes a week after he scored 33 points for his rumba to It’s All Coming Back To Me Now by Celine Dion.

Lisa said: “Oh no!! He was one of my favourites to reach the final. Wishing him a speedy recovery.”
Ellie is the bookies’ favourite to win the Glitterball Trophy this year, according to Ladbrokes.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Coronation Street fans will soon be celebrating Ellie Leach’s success on the dancefloor if the latest odds are anything to go by. She’s fast becoming a shoo-in for this year’s Glitterball Trophy.”
Will the former Coronation Street actress manage to go all the way in the competition with her dance partner Vito Coppola?
Strictly Come Dancing’s results show airs on Sunday evening on BBC One.
