Krishnan Guru-Murthy reveals son will return to watch Strictly
Strictly Come Dancing star Krishnan Guru-Murthy revealed his teenage son asked if he could return to the live audience this week after watching him in the studio on Saturday.
The newsreader has previously admitted Jay, 16, had refused to watch him on the dancefloor as he was embarrassed that his dad was taking part in the hit BBC show.
However, the 53-year-old appeared on Thursday’s It Takes Two, where he explained Jay had been converted.
“Another important moment from Saturday night was that your son Jay was in the audience!” host Janette Manrara exclaimed.
“And he got the biggest welcome from everybody upstairs.”

“I mean he did beg you to not do Strictly and here he is now watching you, probably your biggest fan now. Is it nice to have the support?”
“Well, it’s like that whole thing of like the converts are often the most fanatical,” Krishnan replied.
He continued: “And he got home that night and he went, ‘Can I come next week?’
“And I said, ‘Well, we’ll see’, he said, ‘No I am your son, I want to go next week,’ so now he’s coming again. So yeah, he is now hooked.”

“He’s got the bug, it’s a real thing, the Strictly bug, we’ve converted him,” Janette replied.
Last week, Krishnan achieved his highest score yet following his Charleston with partner Lauren Oakley.
Following their energetic routine to Cabaret’s Money Money, they received a score of 30 from the impressed judges.
He received mainly positive feedback from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas.
However, Anton warned him: “When you come around here, don’t look at the judges ever again!”
Next week, the couple are dancing the Pasodoble, and Lauren revealed Krishnan would be taking on an alter-ego of being a Spanish rockstar to help him with the routine because stepping into a character for movie week seemed to help his performance.
Strictly: It Takes Two airs weekdays from 6.30pm on BBC Two.
