Amanda Lamb says decision to leave A Place In The Sun role was ‘made for me’

A Place In The Sun made Amanda Lamb into a household name, but she has now revealed the decision to leave the show after eight years was, in fact, “made for her”.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with, the star, who recently returned to our screens with her Really series The Saved and Remade Workshop, admitted her 2009 exit was “quite organic”.

At the time of her departure from the Channel 4 show, she fell pregnant with her first daughter, Willow Rose, whom she shares with husband Sean McGuinness.

She recalled:It was all, sort of, quite organic because I was pregnant with Willow, and A Place In The Sun didn’t get recommissioned, so they didn’t want it for a couple of years.

“And by the time it came back, Willow was three and a half, and she was in nursery, and I had a load of other commitments.

“I just thought; I’m not taking her out of nursery, I’m not taking her out of school, I’m not leaving her for three weeks at a time.

“So the decision was kind of made for me,” the star added.

Despite a lack of animosity over her A Place In The Sun exit, Amanda admits she still misses being part of the series.
