How lovable Lioness Alex Scott FINALLY found happiness with Jess Glynne & why she ignored Jamie Redknapp's dating tips | The Sun

ALEX Scott and pop star girlfriend Jess Glynne this week made their first official appearance as a couple on the red carpet of the Attitude Awards. 

The 36-year-old former footballer and pundit and record-breaking pop star's relationship was revealed by The Sun in early October. 

At the time, a friend of the couple said they’d been dating since August, adding: “Alex and Jess have been a slow burn and they didn’t want to rush things or go public too soon.” 

It's great news for Alex who hasn’t always had an easy time with love. It wasn't so long ago she revealed she was considering trying a celebrity dating app in a bid to find The One. 

From a young age, Alex has always pushed herself to excel in her career as she never wanted to be “in a position where everything would be taken away from me again” after her father walked out on her, her mother Carol and older brother Ronnie. 

Living in an East End council estate, she learned to appreciate everything she had and focused on making sure she’d always be OK.

The pair were together for eight years, between 2005 and 2013. 

Despite being tight-lipped about her love life, she previously spoke about the time they shared together and even called Kelly, 44, her “first love”. 

Speaking to The Mirror about the launch of her memoir How (Not) To Be Strong, she said: “For me, it's like that first love story; I fell madly and deeply in love. 

“And yes, there's that heartbreak and those things, but it's a huge part of my life, and I wouldn't go back and change that.” 

She added: “Because that feeling of love and that excitement and what it gives you, it needed to be in there.”

While there has been no official explanation over their break-up, Alex wrote in her memoir: “Here I was, madly in love for the first time in my life, with an alcoholic. It didn’t bode well.” 

Kelly, who is now married with two children, has openly spoken about her past battles with alcohol and depression and said she was not angry over Alex’s words about her. 

“Alex told me that it was going to come out but I have not spoken to her since then. It's OK because it's already out there,” Kelly told MailOnline. 

Strictly romance rumours 

Fast-forward to 2019, Alex joined the cast of Strictly Come Dancing, where she Cha Cha Cha’d her way through the competition with partner Neil Jones, 41, just days after he announced his split from Katya. 

The pair’s routines and intense gazes didn’t go unnoticed by the public and it wasn’t long before rumours began circulating over whether on-stage chemistry continued off-stage. 

Laughing off the rumours, Neil told Hello! Magazine: “There’s nothing on our minds but the show – we don’t have time to think about anything else

"I’m single but I haven’t even thought about dating. Coming out of a long-term relationship I’m just focusing on Strictly."

Alex also shut the rumours down, adding: "I’m single but it’s not like I need to find someone. 

“I like things to happen organically and if someone comes into my life and we get on, then great.” 

Neil has since moved on from his marriage to Katya with Love Island star Chyna Mills, 24. The couple first got together in 2022 and have since experienced a whirlwind marriage as they got engaged in April 2023 and welcomed their first child just a few days ago.

Failed Corrie date

Alex revealed she went on a date with Corrie actor Sam Robertson, 38, who plays the role of Adam Barlow on the soap. 

The footy ace spoke out about their short-lived romance in an exclusive interview with Fabulous. 

At the time, Alex explained that she had been working on herself in order to “deal with someone else”. 

“And I never seem to have a lot of luck on dates,” she shared. “My one date in ages was going out with Sam [Robertson], who is lovely.

"The next morning, our pictures were all over the press because someone in the restaurant had taken a photo. It wasn’t exactly a great start!”

Alex and Sam had been snapped at a Soho restaurant in 2020, but the photos being leaked online put a firm stop to any further romance between them. 

Jamie Redknapp advice 

Despite the failed date she had with soap star Sam, it seems Alex was determined to get back in the dating scene so she went to Jamie Redknapp for help. 

Pundit Jamie, 50, advised her to try a celebrity dating app during the Covid-19 lockdown.

But this didn’t quite work for Alex as she was scared of connecting with others on the platform. 

“But I haven’t actually dared [to] go on it,” she told Fabulous. 

“I am completely hopeless, but every time I think about it, it just doesn’t seem natural to me, so absolutely nothing has happened.” 

"But who knows what the future will bring? All I know is that I’m ready to take on the next challenge – whatever it is.”

Finding ‘real love’ with Jess Glynne 

Alex and 33-year-old Jess were first pictured together side-by-side back in July as they watched the tennis at Wimbledon. 

Since then, they’ve been seen at various events together, including a Coco De Mer party, the Women’s World Cup and at David and Victoria Beckham's exclusive Netflix documentary premiere after-party at The Twenty Two in West London.

Most recently, the couple were seen at the Attitude Awards, making their first official appearance as a couple. 

The Sun first broke the news of their romance in October as a friend shared they’re “an official item now and seem really happy”.
