BBC Strictly’s Annabel Croft suffers performance ‘fail’ in semi-final

It Takes Two: Annabel Croft never thought she’d get a 10

Strictly Come Dancing’s Annabel Croft suffered an awkward blunder during her Salsa performance on Saturday night. Annabel and partner Johannes Radebe’s first dance was to Gloria Estefan You’ll Be Mine (Party Time).

The pair lit up the dancefloor for their first performance of the night, with Annabel showing off her skills outside of slow ballroom dances. However, despite giving her all, the judges picked up on a small mistake that the pair made.

Following some impressive lifts and tricks, the judges gave their verdicts on the performance and picked up on the small mistakes they made.

Halfway through their dance and after leaping into Johannes’s arms, Annabel was spun around onto the floor before he picked her up.

However, the move didn’t go smoothly as she ended up on the ground for a millisecond too long with her legs in the air.

The move didn’t go unnoticed as Craig Revel Horwood commented: “Your leg placement on the floor spin on that bum spin…

“Something went awry there, darling, so you were in the wrong position for that.”

Adding to the issue, Shirley Ballas said: “‘I thought your energy was much, much better towards Johannes.

“You are what the show is about, you started off as a beginner, you’ve come out here and you’ve danced this. Unfortunately, just a little… the bum spin went wrong because you got the wrong arm movement.

“But, do you know what was amazing? How you recuperate. It’s not always if you make a mistake, it’s how you recuperate and you did that marvellously well, I’m very proud of you and you should be very proud of yourself.”

When speaking to Claudia Winkleman after her dance, Annabel touched on the mishap and laughed it off.

“I certainly went for it. I didn’t quite expect to do a skid on the floor and end up on my back, which wasn’t quite the move I was intending!’

“Might have a sleepless night over that one. But it was so much fun, it was hilarious.”

The judges scored their Salsa a 32, with their Viennese Waltz getting a score of 33, giving them a total of 65.

Strictly Come Dancing results will air Sunday from 7:15pm on BBC One.
