James Martin stunned fans as he made a public appearance at the BBC Good Food Show on Friday despite previously announcing that he'd be stepping down from his roles to focus on his cancer diagnosis.
The TV chef, 51, rustled up some food and even took part in a discussion on the Let's Talk Stage at Birmingham's NEC venue.
The TV star, who has two restaurants and stars on Saturday Morning with James Martin on ITV, told the sold-out room he would be cooking three dishes, including his take on a KFC-style chicken, which he called a JFC.
His appearance comes just weeks after he announced that he'd be taking a break from his ITV Saturday Morning show amid his ongoing treatment.
The presenter looked as stylish as ever at the convention in his smart black shirt and jeans which he paired with a suave blazer.
While making his 'JFC', Martin reportedly told the audience: "I don’t use an air fryer. In my opinion they should be banned."
He then added, to the laughs from the audience: "I don’t even want to speak to anyone that has an air fryer."
His appearance comes just weeks after the celebrity chef announced he would be taking a break.
After telling his fans that he'd been diagnosed with skin cancer back in 2018 earlier this year, the popular chef later went on to explain that he had to have a number of operations in a bid to beat the disease.
James has had surgery to remove the cancer before, but it has "returned on several occasions" and he needs "regular treatments".
During a sold-out show in Liverpool, he promised that he would be "back fighting" after dealing with "a lot of s**t with cancer."
He told the audience: "On a personal note, I just wanted to say thank you for 30 years of television. For me personally, I've been through a lot of s**t with cancer but I'm getting sorted at the end of next month.
I will be back fighting at the end of February but I'm going on a little bit of a break to get that sorted. I just wanted to say thank you for all your support and all your messages."
However, James seemingly backtracked last week when he shared a snap of himself filming on the ITV show on his Instagram page.
He posted a snap of his ingredients haul for another cookery session, suggesting that the star is excited to get back in the kitchen.
It comes amid recent reports that fellow chef Jimmy Doherty would be taking over James's slot on ITV in the meantime, taking viewers on a journey of culinary delights around Florida in the new year.
