Dingle court assembles in scenes set to air in November as the murder of Lydia Dingle’s (Karen Blick) rapist leaves them all under suspicion in Emmerdale. But can Lydia crack the case before the police get involved?
The Dingles are under fire from one another as they try to find out who killed Craig Reed (Ben Addis) after his body is found in the fields at Home Farm by Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle).
Realising one of the Dingles is to blame, the entire family head to the Woolpack for a lock-in. Lydia is desperate to uncover the truth after asking her family not to seek justice themselves when she told them about Craig’s actions.
Knowing Sam Dingle (James Hooton) and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) had Craig tied up in a remote barn, Lydia begins her investigation by focusing on their whereabouts.
In a series of flashbacks, what actually happened in the barn is revealed.
Later on Lydia’s focus shifts to Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) who recounts her day. She was with Tom King (James Chase) who organised a romantic meal and proposed to her.
Focus then shifts to Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) who is reluctant to give his alibi to his family. And he’s not the only one, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) is uneasy to divulge her series of events.
Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) and Caleb Miligan (Will Ash) offer their account of the day, but actually Caleb is hiding some crucial information.
Next in the hot seat are Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley), Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) – but everyone’s stories are hard to piece together as not all of divulge the whole truth.
Luckily for viewers, a series of flashbacks shows what really happened in the lead up to Craig’s death.
Eventually, everyone's alibi is established, but Lydia remains troubled that someone is being deceitful as their version of events don’t add up.
Unable to bear his wife’s upset, a guilt-ridden Sam confesses there’s more to his version of events and the truth of what happened to Craig that night is revealed.
Meanwhile, the police arrive to investigate Craig’s murder, will they discover who did it before Lydia? And will the Dingles turn in one of their own?
Also in the village, Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) plays happy families with Mackenzie Boyd (Laurence Robb). Plus, Belle confesses to Chas that it doesn’t feel like the right time to marry Tom despite the proposal. And troubled Pollard puts on a brave face.
