A 17-year-old boy is in hospital after being shot through his bedroom window in Melbourne’s south-east overnight.

Police say they believe a number of shots were fired from the road or footpath towards an Endeavour Hills home, injuring the teen while he slept.

Emergency services were called to the Janmara Court residence about 1.20am. The teenager was taken to hospital in a stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Other family members at the Endeavour Hills home at the time of the shooting were uninjured.

The area around the home has been cordoned off while detectives from the armed crime squad and officers from the major crime scene unit investigate.

More to come.
