A WOMAN has died after she was found at home with serious "unexplained" injuries as cops arrested a man.

Police have sealed off a house in Hartlepool in County Durham after the body was found.

Emergency services were called to the house in Ivy Grove at 5.30pm last night.

The woman had suffered serious injuries and she later died in hospital.

Police said this morning that a man has been arrested.

He remains in custody as detectives probe the death.

The woman was rushed to the University Hospital of Hartlepool but doctors were unable to save her.

Cleveland Police said: "A police presence remains at a property on Ivy Grove, Hartlepool, in connection with the incident.

"The woman's family have been informed and are being supported by officers and our thoughts remain with them at this extremely difficult time.

"This incident is not being connected to any other and enquiries are continuing to establish the cause of the woman's death."
