Celeb-loved brand Columbia launches jackets with heat-trapping technology to keep you extra cosy

As we prepare to wrap up against the incoming cold winter weather, many of us will be planning on buying an extra coat or two to keep the chill at bay.

And although we love the look of a fur-lined aviator or teddy overcoat when we’re out and about, none of them keep us warm quite like our trust puffer jackets. Their quilted, padded lining is better at keeping the cold away than any other style, and thankfully they’ve had something of a fashion renaissance lately that’s put them firmly at the top of the trending coat list, meaning we can wear them anywhere, any time whenever the weather calls for it.

Although you might automatically think of brands like North Face for your cosy outdoor padded coats, there’s another brand that’s just as well loved by celebs, and its newest range has got us racing to add them to our basket.

We’re talking about Columbia, whose vast array of outdoorswear has been spotted on countless A-listers over the years, and has been endorsed by plenty of athletes and sports people thanks to its combination of practicality and style.

Although there’s nothing wrong with a classic puffer, it seems Columbia has decided that they could be even better, and has now introduced its brand newOmni-Heat Infinity Technologyto its jackets to give them an extra layer of cosiness.

Inspired by space blanket technology that wasused by Intuitive Machines for their space shuttlelaunch earlier this year, the Omni-Heat Infinity uses an expanded pattern of metallic gold dots to reflect more body heat, delivering instant warmth without compromising breathability. so you can keep toasty and warm without getting too sweaty or humid.

With another cold snap heading our way thanks to arctic weather streams this December, now is the perfect time to get your hands on one of the warmest jackets available, especially since Columbia’s tests show it increases body heat reflection by a whopping 40% compared to without it.

The new technology is available in a whole host of the brand’s iconic jackets, including the Women's Bulo Point™ II Down Puffer Jacket, £270 here, which has a classic boxy, oversized fit that’s perfect for extra layering (not that you’d need it!) and extra goose down lining, making it one of the cosiest, warmest jackets that you’ll ever have hanging in your wardrobe.

If you prefer a longer puffer, the Women's Pike Lake™ II Long Puffer Jacket, £200 here, also comes equipped with the heat-trapping Omni-Heat technology, so you can stay snug quite literally from head to toe. However, if you’re happy with a lighter, thinner puffer jacket, New Look’s Cream Hooded Longline Puffer Coat, £59.99 here (was £79.99), has a similar look without the extra warmth.
