Coleen Nolan gives health update on sister Linda who is ‘struggling to walk’

GMB: Coleen Nolan gives an update on sister's cancer battle

Coleen Nolan has given an update on the health condition of her sister Linda Nolan, who was recently diagnosed with brain cancer.

Earlier this month, Linda Nolan accepted she will never be cancer-free, but is thrilled to have recently learned that the disease is at bay.

The 64-year-old was told her cancer had spread to her brain after doctors found tumours earlier this year.

Both Linda and Coleen have spoken candidly about the diagnosis and the impact on their family, and during Monday’s Good Morning Britain, Coleen was asked by hosts Susanna Reid how Linda was doing.

She explained she was coping well but is now “struggling to walk”.

“Linda is just a machine,” the TV personality stated.

She continued: “She’s unbelievable, you know. Cancer just hits her again and again and again and she just keeps going.

“And she’s incredible because she’ll say, ‘I can’t meet you all today for lunch because I’ve had chemo, I’m not feeling great.’

“And then the next day [she says] ‘Right, where are we going?’

“She’s just… you know, it’s hard for her. She’s struggling to walk now, but she just gets on with it every day.”

“Your family has been so ravaged by cancer,” Susanna pointed out.

The presenter added: “And of course, you lost Bernie [Nolan] to cancer, was there a point at which you thought to yourself, ‘Do I have this in my genetics? Do I need to take further action?’

“I know that you had a skin cancer scare, haven’t you? A basal cell carcinoma, and I know that left you feeling a bit guilty because as cancer’s go it was a kind of treatable one – you know, it’s all frightening, isn’t it?”

“It is frightening,” Coleen confirmed, “Especially when you think they’re going to say it’s eczema and they go, ‘No, it’s carcinoma, you think, ‘wow.’

“It’s all scary and of course, I think about it all the time, but I’m very vigilant with it.

“And if I’m ever unsure about anything I go straight away because that’s the whole point of it – go straight away.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
