A Place In The Sun made Amanda Lamb into a household name, but she has now revealed the decision to leave the show after eight years was, in fact, “made for her”.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, the star, who recently returned to our screens with her Really series The Saved and Remade Workshop, admitted her 2009 exit was “quite organic”.
At the time of her departure from the Channel 4 show, she fell pregnant with her first daughter, Willow Rose, whom she shares with husband Sean McGuinness.
She recalled: “It was all, sort of, quite organic because I was pregnant with Willow, and A Place In The Sun didn’t get recommissioned, so they didn’t want it for a couple of years.
“And by the time it came back, Willow was three and a half, and she was in nursery, and I had a load of other commitments.

“I just thought; I’m not taking her out of nursery, I’m not taking her out of school, I’m not leaving her for three weeks at a time.
“So the decision was kind of made for me,” the star added.
Despite a lack of animosity over her A Place In The Sun exit, Amanda admits she still misses being part of the series.

The mum-of-two continued: “But yeah, I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss it, because it was such a big part of my life. It kind of launched my career.”
Luckily for Amanda and her fans, an A Place In The Sun comeback may be in the works for her.
“I might be doing something with them this year,” she teased.
Going into more detail, Amanda spilled: “A Place In The Sun was amazing, and I had so much fun doing it.
“I might be doing something with them this year, but I can’t say any more than that!”
Reminiscing on the dream role, which allowed her to travel to beautiful filming locations on a regular basis, Amanda admitted: “There’s nothing better than waking up in the morning and looking out to a beautiful beach!”
